Canon CINE-SERVO 17-120mm T2.95-3.9 Cinema Lens - EF Mount
The CINE-SERVO 17-120mm T2.95-3.9 lens provides cinematographers and broadcast operations with a compact, lightweight design (only 6.4 lbs.) using Canon optical elements, while offering outstanding performance and reliability in professional shooting environments.

The new lens is fully 4K-ready, with a high optical resolution and support for Super35mm large-format cameras. An 11-blade aperture diaphragm helps ensure an artistic and beautiful representation of out-of-focus areas (or "Bokeh").

The lens also features a high 7x zoom magnification, wide focal length range of 17mm to 120mm, and a 180° smooth rotating focus ring. Acknowledging that broadcasters often need to control zoom, focus and iris/aperture in different ways than filmmakers, Canon has developed this zoom lens with full external servo control for drama, documentary and other broadcast productions.

The servo drive unit is compatible with industry-standard protocols for control from a number of lens controllers including Canon’s standard broadcast lens controllers (ZSD-300D/FPD-400D) and multiple industry standard cinema lens controllers. The drive unit can be easily removed for cinema-style shoots and can be easily re-attached without any manual re-alignment. A 16-bit metadata output enables connection to virtual studio systems.

Also available in PL mount, the lens can be converted at an authorized Canon service facility.

High Zoom Magnification 7x
The new CINE-SERVO 17-120mm T2.95-3.9 lens offers a high magnification range of 7-times, coupled with an extremely versatile focal length that is continuously variable from 17mm to 120 mm. Its compact size and light weight include the same type of removable drive unit found on conventional broadcast-use ENG lenses, with ergonomics that provide a familiar feel that many ENG cameramen expect.

4K Ready
The lens offers 4K-ready optical performance for digital cameras equipped with Super35mm CMOS sensors that offer four times the image resolution of conventional HD media. The lenses' high optical performance across a wide zoom range matches that of 4K single-chip, large-format digital cameras, for both cinema and broadcast applications, with outstanding picture quality extending from the image center to the edges.

11-Blade Iris
The use of an 11-blade iris produces artistic and beautiful out-of-focus areas or "Bokeh." The 11 blades allow for attractive circular blurring in out-of-focus regions, while the use of an odd number of blades help reduce flaring of specular highlights. Additionally, the iris ring is mechanically controlled with no click stops for smooth exposure adjustments while recording.

Designed for Cinema Style and Broadcast Applications
With large-format digital cameras now being used during both cinema and broadcast/ENG shoots, videographers and operators are seeking zoom lenses that accommodate both types of production. The lens incorporates a removable drive unit that provides remote control of the focus, zoom and iris/aperture settings. Focus indicators on the front side of the lens are marked on a beveled surface, making them easier to identify from the rear of the camera especially when mounted on a shoulder. A 180-degree focus rotation angle not only fulfills the focusing accuracy required for 4K shoots, but also the operational range needed for broadcast productions.

Enhanced Servo Drive Unit
The LCD display enables users to easily access functions on the drive unit. User settings are also accessible from the drive unit. The drive unit can provide a very fast zoom speed of up to 0.5 seconds from end to end, or a very slow speed of 300 seconds. These can be changed using a toggle switch on the drive unit. The small and lightweight ergonomic drive unit can be detached when full manual use of the lens is desired, and doesn't require any alignment when re-attached to the lens. While the lens can operate independently of the drive unit, the drive unit is matched by serial number to the lens it ships with and will only function with that lens.

Compact and Lightweight
Despite being designed for large-format digital cameras, the lens is extremely compact and lightweight, with the type of shoulder-shot portability desired by broadcast-production and ENG/EFP markets.

Multiple Communication Capability with Compatible Cameras
In addition to supporting Canon's EF-mount communication protocols via camera-mount contacts, the lens features three, 20-pin ports that provide full remote control of zoom servo, focus servo and iris/aperture settings, compatible with a wide range of digital cameras, virtual data systems and remote-control protocols. They are also compatible with 12-pin lens cables used for cameras that accommodate other broadcast-compliant serial interfaces. The lens is only capable of communicating with a camera when used with the servo drive unit.

16-bit Metadata Output for Virtual Studio Systems
The lens can be connected to different types of virtual control systems via its 16-bit encoder outputs, including Canon's Digital Drive ZSD-300D zoom demand and FPD-400D focus demand. The FDJ-P01 focus demand can also be used via a 20-pin conversion cable to remotely control the iris by changing the setting from the display on the drive unit. The 16-bit, high-resolution encoders provide accurate lens data to the system to help avoid any discrepancy between the changes made in the lens settings and the virtual images.

High Durability and Ruggedness
Leveraging Canon's more than 50 years of designing broadcast lenses, the lens offers the high level of ruggedness and in-use reliability required to fulfill the exacting needs of broadcast applications, with a robust chassis construction that is weather and shock proof.

Power Supply
The lens will require an external battery to supply power for the servo drive. Please ask Canon or any authorized dealers for details.

Also Available in PL Mount
For added versatility with a range of HD and 4K digital cameras, the lens is also available with a PL mount. The mounts are interchangeable at an authorized service facility to support user needs.

CA Proposition 65

Attention to all California residents, Proposition 65 or officially known as, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a law that requires warnings be provided to California consumers when they might be exposed to chemicals identified by California as causing cancer or reproductive toxicity. The warnings are intended to help California consumers make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals from the products they use. The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) administers the Proposition 65 program and publishes the listed chemicals, which includes more than 850 chemicals. August 2016, OEHHA adopted new regulations, to go into effect on August 30, 2018, which changes the information that is required in or on Proposition 65 warnings.

We want you to know and be aware of our product safety and Midwest Photo is taking all of the necessary steps to comply with the applicable safety and health requirements made by this Proposition 65.

WARNING: This product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.

This disclaimer can be found on the product pages on our website under the Additional Information tab which appears below the product description. It is listed on all product pages to ensure that our customer is aware of the warnings put out by our suppliers so you can know the precautions before purchasing.
