Functional, but could be alot better.

They're functional, but the fact that the threaded hole goes clean through the base is a problem. You can't screw the shoe mount all the way down on the stud, because it will ground out the flash by allowing the flash pin to rub against the brass stud. The flash as a result will not fire remotely.
I used some electrical tape to resolve this, but after a while, the tape wears down and has to be replaced.
From MPEX 12/15/2011: Try the LP716, variable cold shoe with a groove at the base so that the firing pin doesn't short out the flash.
